Algae News Wrap Up: Australian and Canadian governments see biofuels value

Bloomberg reports that Australia’s A$200 million ($196 million) renewable energy venture capital fund is set to unveil its first two investments in the solar and biofuels industries by the end of September. The fund is part of Australia’s plan to drive investment in wind, solar, geothermal and other clean-energy technologies.

Market Watch reports that the Government of Canada announces a new research network to focus on biofuels. “Our government’s Economic Action Plan 2012 focuses on the drivers of growth and job creation-innovation, investment, education, skills and communities,” said Minister Goodyear. “Improving health care, sustaining the environment and managing natural resources are three very important priorities for Canadians and by focussing research investments on these areas will build a more sustainable future for all Canadians.”
