Algae News Wrap Up: Pressure for a Renewable Fuel Standard and Algae Biofuels European Conference

DesMoinesRegister report on the strong united effort of American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE), Advanced Ethanol Council (AEC), Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), Growth Energy, Renewable Fuels Association (RFA), National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) and 25x’25 Alliance and Energy Future Coalition who are pushing congress for a Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) The groups stated, “Anything short of full support for the RFS will exacerbate the problem of increasing gas prices and undercut the ethanol industry’s efforts to innovate and continue to deliver domestically-produced and affordable alternatives to foreign oil.”

The 4th Algae World Europe conference being held in Munich will see algae industry experts share on projects, technology and developments. The conference will run from 22-23 May 2012. More information can be found here. 

Biofuels Digest reports that Seattle, Washington, US is focused on establishing itself as an aviation biofuels hub. In addition one of the most persistent advocates for renewable energy in the US Congress, Jay Inslee, is running for governor.

Biofuel International reports the US Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD ) has signed a deal with Albemarle for it to produce biojet fuel derived from bio n-butanol which will be provided by Cobalt Technoloigies.
